Health Stories

Animation can be a wonderful tool to share information, especially about things that we struggle to talk about normally. I enjoy finding alternative ways of representing stories about health and illness. Giving people a place to share their stories and experiences is humbling and definitely worth the 1000s of frames it takes to draw.

A Small Story

This film was made for Claire House Children's Hospice and features the voices and thoughts of the Smallman family. The Smallman's talk us through the experience of receiving hospice support and the profound effect it's had on their entire family. A different look at hospice life.

Missing Marmalade

Made as part of an award-winning exhibition called 7000 Feet, Missing Marmalade unpacks ideas around food, exercise and family-life when someone in the family has a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes.

Storytelling Science

A current project in collaboration with Animate Projects, The Wellcome Trust and MMU, seeking to unpick the ground-breaking work occurring in the Mostowy Lab researching the shigella bacteria and immune responses.

I am facilitating a programme of online workshops delivered to young people by MMU students as part of this exciting project. The work produced will then inform an animation created by Sam Moore.
